Jodie Benabe, PsyD (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS). She is the current President of the iaedp Denver Metro Chapter after serving as the Education Chair for the last two years. She is passionate about offering unique and culturally-responsive educational trainings that reflect the best practices involved in helping those who struggle with food and body image issues. Dr. Benabes goals for the Chapter include increasing community outreach, promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programming, and providing a forum for member support. Dr. Benabe became professionally interested in eating disorders while on internship at Utah State University after attending a training with Steven C. Hayes, PhD on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her graduate school emphasis was multicultural psychology and she founded the annual Higher Education Diversity Summit (now HEDS365) in 2010 at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Dr. Benabe has worked on university campuses, in community mental health, with first responders, and at residential and hospital eating disorder treatment centers, including Avalon Hills and the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders/University of Colorado Anschutz Medical School. She has served on diversity councils for various organizations and is a Diversity Mentor for the Colorado Psychological Association. She has conducted original research on eating disorders and taught undergraduate and graduate level psychology courses. She has a private practice in Boulder, CO where she specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, and trauma.
